What this position will offer You?

The candidate will be responsible for providing Tier 1and 2 operational and maintenance support for over 400 users and 6 mission critical networks.

On a day to day basis the candidate will be responsible for:
 
- Implementing and maintaining complex network infrastructures and communication transports
- Working with complex networks, systems and applications tat for an enterprise data center automation system
- Provide experience in the operations and maintenance of mission-critical data centers and computing systems

Position Requirements

- Requires a minimum of 5 to 7 years of Tier 2 experience supporting multiple mission critical networks and applications.
- CCNA Certification Required
- Requires Bachelor’s degree in (Computer Science, Math or Engineering) or equivalent
- Strong background in providing system administration on various Cisco router and switch platforms including but not limited to Cisco 7600, 3600, 2800, 2600, and 1800 series routers and Catalyst 6500, 4500, 4800, 3700, and 2900 series switches
- Extensive knowledge of data link layer protocols and technologies, such as Ethernet, VLANs, Spanning-tree protocol (STP) per-VLAN Spanning Tree (PVST+), 802.1Q Trunks, link aggregation, port channels, VLAN Trunking Protocol (VTP),
- Extensive knowledge on subnetting, supernetting, VLSM, and static routing
- Basic knowledge of dynamic routing protocols such as OSPF
- Intermediate knowledge of networking protocols and concepts (TCP/IP, FTP, SMTP, SNMP, HTTP, HTTPS, DHCP, DNS)
- Basic skills in configuring Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, and Windows Vista Operating Systems, specifically network communications and network management application installation and operations maintenance
- Strong skills in troubleshooting, fault isolation, and critical thinking skills that logically segment and narrow down problems in complex computing environments
- Ability to install, configure, and maintain servers, desktops, networks, and/or related hardware & software.
- The ability to work on multiple projects/tasks at once and operate in a dynamic, fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Must be motivated and self-directed, not depending on directions for daily taskings

Desired Knowledge, Experience and Skills:

-  Experience Data Center environmental monitoring systems
-  Experience with CiscoWorks LMS 3.1, CiscoSecure Access Control Server (ACS) 4.0
-  Experience network management and troubleshooting applications
-  CCNA or equivalent knowledge strongly recommended


Major Job Function:
 
Works closely with senior network engineer on the implementation of a Data Center Automation Enterprise rollout which will consist of environmental monitoring and alerting, network management to include CiscoWorks LMS, CiscoWorks Health and Utilization Monitor (HUM), CiscoSecure ACS; systems management to include Altiris TMS, Business Service Management (BSM), Access Management, and Service Center dashboards and video distribution systems. Will be responsible for the implementation of underlying infrastructure and maintenance, service appliances, servers housing applications, and network management applications and network modeling.

 

Security Requirements: TS/SCI with CI Poly or consent to take exam is required
